Last week, 26-year-old Vincente Bohuchot-Morales of Pensacola, Florida was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a child. According to reports, Bohuchot-Morales met the child victim through the popular video game Fortnite. Bohuchot-Morales is said to have used Fortnite to befriend the child before moving the conversations to Snapchat where he is alleged to have exchanged sexual photos with the victim.

This is becoming an unfortunately common occurrence where predators are using Fortnite to gain access to child victims. Once a predator gains the trust of a child through a video game they then move the conversation to a more private platform where they can exchange explicit photos and potentially arrange a meeting.

If your children play Fortnite or any online game, please monitor who they are playing with. The in-game chat feature can be turned off and you can also prevent your children from adding friends that they don’t know in real life. As always, talk to your children about the dangers of talking to strangers online.
