More on the Georgia School Shooting Plot: They Had Floor Plans

More details have been released since authorities first announced the arrest of a local juvenile in connection to the foiled Cherokee High School shooting plot in Canton, Georgia. Newly unsealed arrest warrants reveal that the suspects were allegedly planning this attack nearly a year in advance, actively collecting gear, and coordinating across state lines.

News outlets are making a massive deal out of the fact that the group had obtained a floor plan of the school building. I have never understood why the media always sensationalizes that specific detail. News anchors talk about it like the suspects pulled off a Mission Impossible heist to steal classified architectural blueprints from a secure city vault. In reality, anyone can get a floor plan, whether it is drawn on a piece of notebook paper in crayon or created by taking a quick phone picture of the emergency evacuation maps posted in every single school hallway.

Court documents also show that the group had already picked a specific date to carry out the attack: August 20th, 2027. Plotters like this usually select a date tied to a previous mass attack, but off the top of my head, I cannot think of any major historical event or shooting that happened on August 20th.

Beyond setting a timeline, the warrants state that they spent time discussing matching outfits to wear during the assault, complete with tactical gear, combat boots, and video cameras. Coordinating outfits for a big event sounds less like a criminal mastermind plot and more like teenage girls planning what to wear to the school dance.

And it feels like we are getting very close to an official confirmation that this was a True Crime Community-inspired scheme. The TCC is a deeply bizarre online subculture spread across platforms like Discord, Telegram, and Tumblr where impressionable users, edgelords, and social outcasts romanticize, glorify, and idolize notorious mass murderers. Members build fan art, trade manifestos, and swap violent fantasies, creating an echo chamber that transforms misanthropic hostility into a shared identity.

The dynamics of this specific group fit that pattern to a tee. The unnamed minor was an actual student at Cherokee High. Meanwhile, 17-year-old Shane Taylor was living in Metter, Georgia, which I lazily assumed was right down the road, but it turns out to be about 240 miles away. Throw in 21-year-old Michael Terry, who was logging in from all the way across the country in Chatsworth, California, and you have a classic setup where older online weirdos egg on a younger kid.

A retired FBI agent interviewed about the case even noted that a cross-country setup like this almost certainly originated in dark web forums or unindexed chat rooms. That sounds like the TCC written all over it.

The only major piece of the puzzle still missing from the official reports, as far as I know, is which suspect actually supplied the firearms and ammunition that investigators seized during the arrests.
