Indy Mom Accused of Trading CSAM of Toddler on Kik

I know I brought this up recently, but please bear with me for a moment.

Back when I was posting about craigslist on an almost daily basis, a lot of predators were caught by police task forces placing ads. In many of these ads, the police would pose as a parent willing to turn out their own kids to any willing stranger.

Then I would get comments defending the suspect, claiming what the police did was entrapment because no parent in their right mind would ever exploit their own kids like that.

Well, in today’s story we not only have a parent allegedly exploiting their kid online; they’re a mother.

But before we get into the heart of the matter, this one is pretty graphic. I considered putting it behind the paywall because of that but decided this story is better served by sharing it publicly to show that parents like this really do exist. So…

This post contains graphic descriptions of crimes against children. You have been warned.

24-year-old Desiree O’Neal of Indianapolis, Indiana, was recently arrested for allegedly taking explicit pictures of her toddler and sharing them on the mobile messaging app Kik.

For those unfamiliar with Kik, all you need to sign up is an email address, and how easy is it to make several of those? It’s also attractive to teens because of its perceived notion of anonymity, making it a forbidden fruit like Omegle was back in the day. Kik’s use among teens has declined due to the proliferation of more legitimate messaging apps, but that hasn’t stopped it from being a haven for sex offenders, pedophiles, CSAM collectors, and child traffickers.

Now, I’m not sharing what comes next for salacious titillation. I’m posting it to show how comfortable this parent was with exploiting her own child.

The arrest started out like most Kik arrests do. NCMEC received a tip from Kik itself about CSAM being shared. That tip eventually made its way to local police. And holy shit, did investigators find a metric ass ton of evidence.

One image shared on the platform appeared to have been taken at the child’s home, showing them with an emoji covering their face. The Kik account also included cartoons that depicted CSAM. If I had to hazard a guess, I would imagine it was lolicon hentai, and I hate that I know what that is.

Now we get into the hardcore shit. The Kik user allegedly claimed to have previously claimed she had assaulted a toddler. That user also sent a message to another Kik user that said…

“But… if you ever get me horny enough where im not thinking clearly.. might send you Pic of my baby girl~ and dont have any pics from back then tossed the whole phone lol,”

So, just through that one message, we can assume that not only had she taken and probably shared pictures of her child before when the child was younger, but that she probably shared them too. And admitting that she had to dispose of the entire phone shows that she knew what she was doing.

Another message said…

“I’d let you enjoy my daughter with me to,”

When confronted by police, O’Neal said she took those photos because her child had a rash. That must be the CSAM equivalent of a parent trying to explain away blunt force trauma with “they fell.”

When police presented her with even more evidence, she said…

“Past sexual abuse was reason that she sought taboo and conducted sexually violent role playing online.”

Now, I’m not going to dismiss her claims here. She could have been abused for all we know. And while I empathize with her, it’s still no excuse to drag your child against their will into such a world.

If the information is correct, not only did she know what she was doing was wrong, but it was also illegal.

Be better. Break the cycle.

And I’m not letting Kik off the hook here.

So they sent a tip to NCMEC; good for you, Kik.

But you’re the ones maintaining this massive online predator ring. You wouldn’t have to call NCMEC if you didn’t make your platform so appealing to the dregs of the internet.

Like I’ve said about other platforms in the past, you can’t claim to be the solution while propagating the problem. I call this axiom the Kik Katch-22.

For this story, I decided to sign up for a Kik account. All I needed was a username, an email address, and that’s it. Kik threw up all sorts of warnings, like asking users to ‘keep it clean’ and that the app was ‘PG-13.’ But when I entered the search term of ‘big,’ I was met with all sorts of group chats that were far beyond a PG-13 rating.

In my years of maintaining this blog, it’s rare but not unheard of for women to engage in CSAM. Typically, they do it to attract the attention of another, and unfortunately, they are almost always mothers exploiting their own children.

While that may sound misogynistic, I wish it wasn’t true because there’s no person out there worth exploiting your child like this. Especially not to some reprobate with a Kik account.

To steal a line from somewhere else, “Mother is the name for God in the lips and hearts of all children.”

Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to go throw this laptop in the river.
